On Thursday 7th
November 2019, the Carnegie Singers under the direction of Musical Director and
Resident Conductor Stephen Hunter-Brown entered the Workington Music Festival
in the Mixed Vocal class, accompanied by Scott Miller.
The choir sang two very contrasting pieces. The first item was a piece by John Rutter “I will sing with the spirit”. This followed by “World In Union” by Charlie Skarbek and arranged by Douglas Coombes using the melody from Gustav Holst.
The adjudicator, Dr Elizabeth Stafford, gave the choir very good feedback on the two pieces and awarded the choir a commendation for their performance. The choir took home two prizes: The T.C. Wilkinson Memorial Trophy and the Millie Booth Trophy.
Our thanks go to the organisers of the festival for making the choir so welcome for the five years in which we have been competing.
